The Floral Collection features my studies of light, color, and shadow found in abundance in still lifes and gardens. Flower petals can be bold in color, or create a soft, airy feel to a painting. Adding light, whether warm or cool, to a still life set up causes the petals to change their hue, become transparent in the light, and cast beautiful shadows. Some still lifes emphasize the layout of object and shadows in the painting, while others are meant to show off a certain color combination or lighting effect. Setting up my own still lifes gives me the flexibility to experiment with many different types of flowers, layouts and light setups. The greenery in each of the paintings creates a sense of life and growth, perfect to refresh any room.
