In this painting, the little girl wears her mom’s old outfit as she plays on a blanket in the grass. Because babies grow and change so fast, it is important in a commission to capture and emphasize their current phase. I played up the soft pinks in her cheeks and nose and the lavender reflected light on her soft baby skin. I love the way her right figures are posed as she focuses on grabbing the blanket with her left hand. The fleshy parts of babies and children in their extremities are brought out by painting intense pinks and reds in their fingertips, feet, cheeks and noses.
Inspired by beautiful colors and light, Kristen’s artwork reflects the discoveries she makes in studying God’s creation. As a follower of Jesus, Kristen takes joy in internalizing and recreating the world around her. When Kristen is not painting, she may be cooking, enjoying life with her husband, playing any kind of games or sports, and daydreaming about traveling the world.
