Monet’s House at Giverny

Inspired by Monet’s impasto brushstrokes, this painting shows the overgrown pathway to the artist’s famous home at Giverny. Impasto refers to the type of brushstrokes that are distinguishable as opposed to blended into the form of the subject. These strokes usually carry thick paint, and are often short in length to suggest movement and direction. I love the diversity of colors and movement, as if you could get lost among the flowers.
